Hide a cut inside a frame that is fully covered (a passing object, a dark wall, a blur) to fake one continuous shot.

What it does

Built on Whip Pan Cut by HeyGen (HyperFrames), Apache-2.0. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.

The camera passes behind a pillar or into darkness; when it comes out we are somewhere else, with no visible edit.

When: One-take illusions, travel and transformation reels, product reveals through an object.

Watch out: If the cover does not fill the whole frame for at least one frame, the edge of the cut flashes.

Timing: Cut on a fully covered frame; optionally a 2–4 frame crossfade inside the cover

In FFmpeg

Cut on the fully covered frame and smooth it with a very short fade inside the cover (offset = A length - T):

In HyperFrames

Cover-and-cut overlays: hw-scribble-transition and mk-clone-wall-transition fill the frame, the host cuts beneath, then they clear. Camera versions: whip-pan-cut, zoom-through-transition.

In Remotion

Use fade() with linearTiming({durationInFrames: 3}) placed exactly on the covered frames, or TransitionSeries.Overlay to drop a cover element over the cut without changing timing.

In CapCut

Cut on the dark/covered frame; add a short Mix (0.1–0.2 s) or a mask that follows the passing object if the cover is not perfect.
