## What it does

The agent does the translating itself: `gst agent start` from the `gemini-srt-translator` Python package parses an `.srt`, an `.ass` or a video's embedded subtitle stream with pysubs2 and hands the agent numbered batches, and `gst agent commit` checks item parity and saves progress, so long files resume cleanly and keep timing, line breaks and ASS override tags. No API key is needed in this agent mode; the same package can also translate on its own with a Gemini key. Text only: no transcription or burn-in, and quality depends on the agent's model and batch size.

- Translate an .srt or .ass subtitle file into another language
- Translate the subtitles embedded in an .mkv or .mp4
- Long multi-character dialogue that needs consistent tone across batches

## Not for

- Creating subtitles from audio (transcribe first: transcribe-anything, agent-caption)
